How To Use Mutual Credit
Welcome to the Steuben County Green Party Time Charter, an online tool that supports mutual credit systems, where members trade goods and services without money.
1. About The Website
A. Discover and share offers and requests.
B. Manage trades and transactions.
C. Connect with members in your region.
D. Participate in collective tasks to support your mutual credit system.
2. Accessing The Website
Step 1: Visit the public site.
Anyone can view public pages. These may include general information, events, and announcements.
Member contact details (addresses, phone numbers) are hidden on public pages.
Step 2: Get your login details.
The administrator will send you:
A. Your username (or member number).
B. A temporary password.
Check your spam folder, sometimes the registration email is filtered.
Step 3: Log in.
A. Click “Log In”.
B. Enter your username/member number and password.
C. Click “Log In” again.
Step 4: Set your password.
When logging in for the first time:
A. Choose a new password.
B. Confirm it by typing it again.
C. Click “Save”.
3. Navigating The Member Area
Once logged in, you’ll see additional tabs at the top of the page. These give you access to member-only features.
Main Tabs:
News / Updates:
Displays recent announcements or events.
Offers And Requests:
View, search, or filter all offers and requests posted by members.
Members:
Browse the full member list with contact details.
Exchanges / Transactions:
View and confirm trades that have been agreed between members.
Collective Tasks / Contributions:
Record volunteer contributions and group efforts for your mutual credit system.
My Account:
Manage your personal profile, offers, requests, and transactions.
4. Managing Offers And Requests
Viewing Offers And Requests
Browse all listings or filter by type:
A. Loans
B. Products And Services
C. Proposals
Use category filters on the left-hand side to narrow down topics.
The category filters are based on standard online marketplace categories.
Click a title to view details.
From any listing, you can:
A. Contact the person directly.
B. View all their offers or requests.
C. Visit their member profile.
D. See similar listings in the same category.
5. Member Directory
The Members tab shows all registered participants.
Sort by first name (lowercase letters) or last name (uppercase letters).
Each entry includes:
A. Contact numbers.
B. General location (city, town, or neighborhood).
6. Managing Transactions
The Exchanges section lists all confirmed trades.
Clicking a member’s name shows their account summary, including:
A. Address.
B. Phone number
C. Offers and requests.
D. Exchange history.
7. Collective Contributions
Your mutual credit system relies on everyone’s participation.
You can record your volunteer contributions (like helping with events or administration). Once completed, notify an administrator so your “contribution point” can be added to your account.
8. Managing Your Account
View Profile
Access via My Account → View
A. Name and avatar (photo or drawing).
B. Address and area of residence.
C. Phone numbers.
D. Account history.
E. Pending transactions.
F. Contributions.
Edit Information
Go to My Account → My Info
A. Update or complete your profile.
B. Only fields with a red asterisk (*) are required.
C. Click Save after making changes.
Settings
Go to My Account → Settings
A. Change your email or password.
B. Upload a profile image (photo or illustration).
C. Optionally delegate account management to another member.
D. Mark that you don’t use a computer often (so others can help you manage your offers).
E. Always click Save to confirm updates.
Offers & Requests
Shows all your current listings. You can edit or delete them anytime.
Displays:
A. Your complete transaction history.
B. Exchange partners.
C. Account balance.
D. Pending transactions.
To confirm a transaction:
A. Click “Sign” next to it.
B. Review the details.
C. If correct, click “Sign” again to finalize.
9. Posting Offers And Requests
To Add An Offer:
A. Click “Add Offer”.
B. Fill in:
1. Short title.
2. Detailed description.
3. Category.
a. Type.
b. Optional image (upload from your computer).
C. Set the duration (default: 6 months, max: 1 year).
D. Click “Save”.
Optional: You can send an E-mail to selected members to announce your new offer, click “Save and Send”.
To Add A Request:
Follow the same steps as adding an offer.
10. Recording A Transaction (Payment)
To record an exchange:
A. Describe the good or service exchanged.
B. Select the appropriate category.
C. Identify your trading partner.
D. Enter the agreed value.
E. Click Preview.
F. Review and click “Save” to confirm.
11. Creating Proposals
The process is similar to creating offers or requests.
